  1. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Catalog Browser .
  2. In the Catalog Browser panel, click Open a catalog, and then click More... to search a catalog.

For more information about the dialog box see Design IP Classification User's Guide.

  3. Type a name for your research, and then click Search.
The Object Selection dialog box displays the search result.
  4. Select a catalog from the list and then click OK.
The Catalog Browser panel displays the catalog structure content.
  5. Expand the catalog structure and select a chapter.
The content of the chapter appears in the right pane.
    Notes:
    • You can determine the display of the content or how the content should appear by clicking any of the various formats from the top right corner: Thumbnail View, Tiles View, Details View.
    • You can also click Activate multi-usage to instantiate a 2D component multiple times and then proceed as described below (till step 9). To stop the multi-usage, click Deactivate multi-usage.
  6. Double-click a 2D component from the list.

You can also right-click the 2D component and select Use Item > Instantiate 2D Component.

  7. Click the 2D layout to position the 2D component instance.
  8. In the Tools Palette, select one of the following:
    • Link with detail : to instantiate a 2D component. The component instance is linked with its external reference. Therefore, this instance can be updated using Synchronize Link option available in Edit Links & Relations dialog box. By default, this icon is selected.

    • Expose : to instantiate and expose a 2D component. The links between the 2D component instance and its reference in a catalog are cut. However, a link with a new 2D component reference (created from the catalog) is created on a detail sheet.

  9. Click the sheet when you are satisfied with the component's position.

    • If Link with detail is selected: The 2D component instance is created.
    • If Expose is selected: The Expose 2D Component Instance dialog box appears.

    1. Define if you want to create the 2D component instance in a new detail sheet or in an existing detail sheet.
    2. Click OK.
The 2D component instance is created.
  10. Click Close.
    Notes:
    • The drawing representation in which you locally instantiated a catalog component is autonomous. In other words, you do not necessarily need the catalog to be able to read the drawing.
    • A link exists between the drawing representation and the catalog. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Links and Relations to display all the links.
