Upgrading Views

You can upgrade sheets, views, and sketched geometry in the views. This will let you benefit from the latest technological enhancements brought to sketched geometry in 3DEXPERIENCE while saving you the need to transfer geometry in new views or even to create views from scratch.

Note: An upgrade of a view brings the latest view functionalities, enhancements, and corrections to it. After an upgrade, the view is still not updated. Therefore, a manual update is needed to see the effects of the upgrade.

Before you begin: Open a 2D layout representation containing views with sketched geometry. As you cannot upgrade geometry in locked views, make sure that the views, geometry of which you want to upgrade are not locked. You can unlock a view through its properties.
  1. Go to Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > Drafting > Administration tab, under Drawing management, clear the Disable view upgrade check box.
    This activates the usage of Upgrade, that is available for ,layouts, sheets and views.
    Important: Even if you select the Disable view upgrade check box, the Upgrade function is available for selection. Although, in this case, it does not effect the layout functionality.
  2. Clear the Disable view geometry upgrade check box.
    Note: With this option, the Upgrade command also upgrades the geometry. Because it is not possible to upgrade the geometry without upgrading the view.
  3. Perform any one of the following actions:
    • Right-click a layout representation in the tree, and select Layout object > Upgrade to upgrade sketched geometry (including background geometry) for all views of all sheets (including detail sheets) in the layout.
    • Right-click the sheet in the tree and select Sheet.n object > Upgrade to upgrade working and background sheets with sketched geometry (including background geometry) for all views (including detail views) in the layout sheet.
    • Right-click the views in the tree or on the sheet and select Selected objects > Upgrade to upgrade sketched geometry for a selection of views (including detail views) in a layout.
    • Right-click the view in the tree or on the sheet and select X view object > Upgrade to upgrade sketched geometry for a single view in a layout.

Sketched geometry is upgraded in the selected ,layout, sheets or views. Dress-up, annotations and dimensions that are linked to the upgraded geometry are updated.

Important:
  • Occasionally, following an upgrade, some 2D elements may be moved, deleted or their orientation reversed. In this case, annotations, dimensions or dress-up element linked to these 2D elements will also be impacted.
  • The version number of upgraded views is incremented so as to mark the document as modified.
