Browsing and Editing Templates: Template Browser

You can navigate between the different templates in your sheet with the panel of the view browser and organize them.

Templates is a panel representation in your sheet which shows all the templates with details or as thumbnails. The number next to the title of the panel signifies the number of templates in all your sheets or the number of templates in the active detail sheet.


Before you begin: Create at least one detail sheet with at least one template of any kind: text, label, table, 2D component, and fix together constraints.

From the View section of the action bar, click Template Browser . The Templates panel appears in the work area. Click again to hide it. By default, the panel is activated.

  1. In the Templates panel, you can display the templates in your sheet in different formats:
    1. Click to display in thumbnails view.
    2. Click to display in details view.

    The thumbnail view displays the following:

    • The icon of the type of template
    • The name

    The list view displays the following:

    • The icon of the type of template
    • The name
    • The scale
    • The keywords generated at catalog creation, if any
    • The sheet name in which the template is present, applicable only when the design sheet is active

  2. Hover over a thumbnail to view the scale in a tooltip.
  3. Hover over a list item in the details view to view the scale, name of detail sheet in which the template is present (if design sheet is active), and keywords (if any).
  4. Click a thumbnail or a list item in detail view to select a template.

    You can select multiple templates.

  5. Double-click the name of the template in the thumbnail or in the details view to rename it.
  6. Right-click the thumbnail or the list item to access other commands.
  7. Double-click the thumbnail or the list item, while in a design sheet, to launch the instantiation command.
  8. Double-click the thumbnail or the list item, while in a detail sheet, to edit the template.
  9. Add, delete, or modify a template in the work area.
    The template browser is updated accordingly.
  10. Drag the 2D components within the browser to rearrange them.
