About Displaying 3D Grid in a View

The following are some salient features regarding the 3D grid associated to a work on support of a 3D shape representation:

  • For a clipping view, the 3D grid and hence its labels are also clipped.
  • When the work on support is deleted in 3D or the association is broken, the 3D grid in the 2D layout is removed and the classic grid view is restored.
  • When a 3D grid is visible for the active view, the regular 2D grid is no more visible.
  • Activating 3D grid has the following effects on SmartPick:
    • For the active view, SmartPick assistant snapping is activated using the regular option of Snap to Point available in the Sketch section of the action bar. The 2D grid snapping is taken into account when no 3D grid is visible in the active view.
    • The 3D grid snapping is taken into account when a 3D grid is visible in the active view.
  • If you copy and paste a view with a 3D grid in the same 3D shape representation, the 3D grid is also copied.
  • When you print a view with 3D grid having labels, the size of the labels is dependent on the print ratio. For a given print ratio, the label size on paper is constant.
  • The label position, grid size, grid overrun, and the font name can be changed using the GVS properties.
  • If you change the view support, the compatibility between the view support and the referenced work on support is checked. If incompatible, a new compatible work on support is set, given that there is no other compatible work on support available.
  • If at least any one of the 3D grid properties is modified or if the Display check box is selected, then all the initialized properties are applied to the selected existing views.

After application of 3D grid properties to the selected existing views, these views behave similar to the newly created views.
