Multiple Instantiation From a List of Points

You can create numerous 2D component instances using a list of points as 2D component origin.

Note: In an active view, you can select 2D, 3D or generated points either before or after activating Instantiate 2D Component, using various methods:
  • Before instantiating the 2D components: by selecting one or several points (only before instantiating a detail sheet component).
  • When instantiating the 2D components: by selecting a single point, selecting using a selection set, or selecting Find, in the Search options list.

This scenario shows how to create multiple 2D component instances from a detail sheet, by multi-selecting points before launching Instantiate 2D Component.


Before you begin: Open a 3D shape representation containing a layout.

Working with 2D Components
  1. Double-click the view in which you want to instantiate the 2D component.
    This view is now active.
  2. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Point , and insert a few points in the view.



    Deactivate Point to finish.

  3. Multi-select the points (you can trap them using the pointer).



    Tip: You can select the points by clicking them, by activating a selection set, or via selecting Find in the Search options list.
  4. From the Sketch section of the action bar, click Instantiate 2D Component .
  5. In the tree, click in the detail sheet the 2D Component.

    You can visualize the 2D component instances in the view. The Tools Palette appears and let you define the type and properties common for all these new instances.



  6. For this scenario, click Link with detail .

    Component instances are created using each selected point as an origin.



  7. Click in an empty space to end the creation.



    Note: You cannot multi-select a list of points with the pointer when creating a 2D component from a catalog.

    Important:
    • These points are not associative with the 2D component instances.
    • All 2D component instances created from a list of points have the same properties (angle, scale...), except for their origin points.
