Propagating the View Characteristics to Another View

You can propagate the view characteristics from an active view during the creation of a new 2D layout view.

Before you begin: Create a 2D layout view in the sheet. Double-click the view to activate the view whose characteristics are to be propagated.
  1. From the View Layout section of the action bar, click Principal Views, or View from Profile, or View from Reference.
  2. In the Propagation Assistant panel, select the characteristics from the following:
    • Propagate View characteristics:

      Scale

    • Propagate Visualization characteristics:
      • Background Display Mode
      • Background 2D Visualization Mode
      • 3D Grid
    • Propagate Operator characteristics:

      3D Clippings

    The selected characteristics are propagated.

    Notes:
    • If any characteristic does not exist on reference view, the propagation option of those characteristics are not available.
    • When a characteristic (3D Grid properties, Background Display Mode, and Background Activate 2D Visualization Mode) exist on the reference view, and if a propagation option is not selected, the value of that characteristic is retrieved from the respective Me > Preferences option.
    • If the administrator locks the corresponding Me > Preferences option, the propagation option is not available in the panel.
    • The options selected in the Propagation Assistant panel are saved and used for next usage of the command. This capability may differ for each option in the panel.
  3. Place the view in the sheet.

Note:

In Propagation Assistant panel, if the Scale propagation option is selected, the scale editor in View Creation dialog box is not available and it is initialized with the scale of the active view.

If the Scale propagation option is not selected, the scale editor in View Creation dialog box is available and it is initialized with the scale of the sheet.
