Creating a Work Calendar

Creating a work calendar involves creating its basic definition and optionally editing individual days in the workweek. After you create the calendar definition, you can create exceptions as described in Creating Exceptions.


Before you begin: View the list of work calendars for a company. See Work Calendars Page.
  1. On the Calendars page, click .
  2. Type the Name of the calendar.
  3. In Workweek, click the days of the week that make up the workweek.
  4. In Work Hours, use the slider to select the range of working hours. This indicates the standard work per day for a calendar and helps decide the amount of work allowed during task scheduling. You cannot change this attribute after you create a calendar.
  5. In Recess Time(s), use the slider to select the range for recess or lunch time.

    • To add a recess time, click . Use the new slider to select the range of working hours.
    • To delete a recess time, click next to the recess time.

    There is a maximum of 4 recess times in a calendar.

  6. Type a Description for the calendar.
  7. Click OK.
    The page displays two sections:
    • Workweek view
    • Monthly calendar
  8. View the Monthly Calendar to see work exceptions and holidays. The default view is the current month, but you can select the month and year to view.

    Colors denote the following:

    White: work week

    Gray: weekend (nonwork day)

    Blue: work exception

    Orange: holiday

    Border highlighted with Cyan: today's date
