Creating Tasks

You can create tasks for many items that have a Tasks page, such as a change action, regulatory request, or complaint. You must own the parent item to be able to create tasks for it.

When you create a task, the app creates a route to manage that task. All tasks created for the same parent item are added to a single route. However, if prior tasks and their associated route have all been completed, then creating a new task also creates a new route.

Before you begin: View the Tasks page for a parent item.
  1. From the page Actions menu or toolbar, click Create New .
  2. Enter these details:

    Field NameDescription
    TitleEnter a descriptive title.
Due DateClick to select the due date for this task.
AssignmentChoose an option. The available options depends on the type of parent item, and not all parent items let you restrict the assignee:

    OptionDescription
Complaint MemberOnly shows for tasks created for a complaint.

The assignee selected in the next field must be a complaint member.

Any UserThe assignee can be any user, with any role, defined in the system for any organization.

AssigneeClick to search for the person who needs to complete this task.

If the assignment is "Any User", you can select someone who might not currently have access to the parent item. That person is given read access to the parent item.

InstructionsProvide a detailed explanation of what the assignee is expected to do to complete this task.
Task OptionsIf you want the assignee to be able to delegate this task to another person, select the Allow Delegation check box.

If the assignee chooses to delegate the task, the new assignee might or might not have access to the parent item. The original assignee must carefully choose who they select as a delegate. The app does not restrict their selection.

  3. Click Apply to save this task and continue creating tasks, or click Done to save this task and close the dialog box.

All tasks created for a parent item are added to a single route. Assignees see the task listed on their task list.

If the parent type supports promotion blocking (that is, the parent cannot be promoted until the task is completed), the task is created as non-blocking. You can change it to blocking on the Tasks page for the parent object.
