About the Material Palette

The Material Palette enables you to browse for materials, research, and compare them, and apply them to components of your model.

It can display either the subset of materials you most recently applied to models or the subset of materials that are open in your session.

To open the Material Palette, click Material Palette from the Live Rendering section of the action bar.

The Material Palette offers several methods for navigating through the database to select the materials you want to use.

The main interface in the Material Palette is a hierarchical display of the materials available to you in the database. You can also select an individual material to display more information about its properties and simulation behaviors.

  • Material data are organized into top-level categories, and you can expand any category to display more specific subcategories and the individual materials in them.
  • If you click a material, the Material Palette displays more information about that material.
  • The search options enable you to display the subset of materials that match your search criteria.
