About Stickers

You need to know the concepts that are specific to stickers.

  • Stickers applied onto a part are not visible when inserting the part into a product (technical limitation). Therefore, use decals instead. Decals are based on a new technology and are available since the 2018x level. Decals are going to replace stickers as they offer more capabilities (such as PLM exposition).

To by-pass this limitation, save and reload the product.

  • Stickers are available only if you work in Design mode and if the geometry on which it is applied is loaded in session.
  • When you work in visualization mode, you can only apply stickers to a whole part. If you want to apply a sticker on a feature located below the part (a face for example), you need to switch to the design mode. If you open a part that is not in design mode and a sticker is already applied, you will not be able to visualize the sticker. To visualize it, first load the part in design mode.

You may also make sure that you are in Material visualization mode in the View section of the action bar.

This page discusses:

Sticker Geometry Location

The sticker is applied in a different way according to the selected location and the type of sticker.

The following sticker behaviors depend on the location of the selected object onto which you apply a sticker:

LocationBehavior
Object in the work areaThe handle of the sticker is centered by default on the selected point and is positioned along the normal to this point.

The following sticker behaviors depend on the type of sticker:

TypeBehavior
V5 modelThe sticker is applied to the part that you click in the work area or in the tree.

You can select one or multiple elements using the multiselection.

.cgr filesThe sticker is applied onto the entire product.

Sticker Symbols

When a sticker is created and applied onto a geometry, it is placed under a Stickers node under the current active Rendering Scene.

You can create as many stickers as you want on the same geometry. The last created sticker is placed on top of the others.

Three different symbols identify the stickers in the tree:

SymbolDescription
Sticker that is applied onto a 3D geometry and for which a texture image is defined.
Sticker that is not applied onto a 3D geometry.

For example, when you click Create Sticker without previously selecting a location.

Sticker that is applied onto a 3D geometry but for which no texture image is defined.
