Modifying Materials Appearance

You can perform various operations on a material appearance and on applied materials.

Material mapping parameters are managed at three different levels:

  • Global mapping parameters on the material. You can edit these parameters only through the Material Palette or the Material Browser. These parameters are displayed in the Appearance Domain dialog box of an applied material but you cannot edit them.
  • Mapping parameters of applied materials. You can display and edit these parameters in the Appearance Domain dialog box of an applied material.
  • Channel mapping parameters. You can edit these parameters through the Material Editor or the Material Palette. These parameters are displayed in the Appearance Domain dialog box of an applied material but you cannot edit them.
