Creating a Sweep Shape

The Sweep command lets you create a sweep shape to extrude a volume by sweeping profiles along curves.

Note: You cannot sweep profiles along edges.

When the sweep shape is projected onto the guide curve, the following rules apply:

If the profile and guide curve intersect, the point of intersection on the profile follows the guide curve during the sweep.

If the profile and guide curve do not intersect:

  • Closed profiles - the center of gravity of the profile follows the guide curve during the sweep.
  • Open profiles - the point on the profile closest to the guide curve follows the guide curve during the sweep.

The Selection panel lets you:

  • Generate a sweep on a guide, profile, or complete guide. Manipulators are no longer available.
  • Use the begin- and end-point options to determine where the sweep starts and ends. In the example opposite, the values are 10 (begin point) and 65 (end point).
  • Switch end point with begin point.
