Splitting Shapes

The Split command lets you cut a shape with an intersecting surface or plane while keeping one or both sides of the shape.

You cannot cut a surface with another surface.

  1. Select the side to keep.
    OptionDescription
    Select positive side only
    Select negative side only
    Keep both sides

    If you select Keep Both Sides, a new Natural Shape feature containing one of the sides is added to the tree.

  2. If the splitting element does not completely intersect the shape, specify how to extend the boundary edges of the splitting element.

    Note: If the splitting element does not intersect the shape at all, all boundary edges are extended.
