Performing Measurements

Measuring Parameters of an Item

You can measure the different parameters of an object such as area, center of gravity, and perimeter.

  1. In the Measure panel, set the measure specifications as follows:

    Measurement type
    • Measure Item : Measures the geometric properties of the object such as area, perimeter, center of gravity, etc.
    • Measure Thickness : Measures the thickness at a point along the direction normal to the selected surface.
    Measurement mode
    • Single measure: Creates a single measurement at a time. By default, this mode is active.
    • Multiple Measure Item : Creates several measurements independent of each other without clicking the Measure command several times.
Axis system check box Lets you perform measurements with respect to axis systems other than the global axis system. Select an axis system from the tree or the 3D area.
Associative if possible check box When performing measurements in the visualization mode, this option helps you create measurements associative with the geometry.
Keep measure check box Lets you choose whether to create persistent or non-persistent measures.

  2. Select the item you want to measure.
  3. In the Measure customization panel, show or hide different parameters to be displayed in the 3D area and under Measure Results in the Measure panel.
  4. On the context toolbar, click Validate the Measure .
  5. Optional: Select the measure and click Add Comment on Measure to add a comment to the measure.
