Section Context Toolbar

The availability of the context toolbars depends on the product you are using, on the context and on the type of action you are performing. This section describes the context toolbars available when sectioning and/or when editing sections.

Display a plane

Displays and lets you manipulate one plane only. This is the default mode.

Display a slice

Displays and lets you manipulate two planes to slice through the object. Moving the first plane changes the position of the whole slice. Moving the second plane changes the distance between the planes.

Display a box

Displays and lets you manipulate a box to section the object. Moving the first plane changes the position of the whole box. Moving the five other planes changes the size of the box.

Display the contour and the plane of the section

Displays the section plane and contour. This is the default mode.

Display the contour and the grid of the section

Displays the section contour and the grid plane. This provides a global quick view of the dimensions around the section contour. The origin of the grid is the center of the section plane. It is the same as the position of the Compass.

Note: The number of lines on the grid is limited to 1490 lines. Any modification of the number of lines is kept for the next section creation.
Display only the contour and the context of the section

Displays only the section contour and context.

Manage the preferences of the grid

Displays additional options for the grid plane.

Increase the number of lines of the grid

On the grid, divides the line spacing by two and therefore increases the number of lines.

Decrease the number of lines of the grid

On the grid, multiplies the line spacing by two and therefore decreases the number of lines.

Change the grid mode between Absolute\Relative

The grid mode swaps between absolute and relative coordinate system.

Change the grid lines style as Lines or Cross

Lets you switch between the lines and cross grid lines styles.

Edit the number of lines of the grid

Opens a frame in the 3D geometry which lets you modify the U and V spacing on the grid.

Undergoing edition of the number of lines of the grid

Indicates that the frame which lets you modify the U and V spacing on the grid is open for edition. Clicking this icon closes the frame.

Display the section front cut

Activates the section front cut mode. This is the default mode.

Hide the section cut

Deactivates the section cut mode.

Display the section back cut

Activates the section back cut mode. This reverses the normal of the section and displays the part of the cut object which is in front of the section plane.

Always display the cut of the section

Activates the section automatic cut mode. This automatically reverses the normal of the section, so that the cut part of the section is always displayed, no matter what the viewpoint is.

Display only the contour of the section

Displays only the section contour. This hides the context, so you cannot use section cut-related functionality. You can, however, combine this option with the visualization type options. So, in combination with:

  • : only the plane and contour (context hidden) are displayed.
  • : only the grid and contour (context hidden) are displayed.
  • : only the contour (context hidden) is displayed.

Move the viewer of the section plane to a defined position

Displays options to change the viewpoint of the section plane.

Note: The origin of the plane and the viewpoint are not modified no matter which option you select.

Move to the section plane

Positions the viewpoint to the section plane. If it is already selected, the viewpoint is switched from the front to the back view. A 2D ruler is displayed to help you position the section plane.

Notes: On the 2D ruler, the zero point corresponds to the initial position of the section plane and cannot be modified using the ruler. The ruler value corresponds to the distance between the initial position and the current position. The positive value corresponds to the direction of the section plane's normal vector and the negative value corresponds to the direction opposite to the normal vector. You can either slide the handle or click a value and enter a new one. Note that the Robot is hidden when changing the viewpoint to the 2D section plane. It reappears when you return to the 3D viewpoint and the 3D ruler value is updated with the modification of the 2D ruler value.

Move the section plane to the X position

Positions the section plane normal to the X axis.

Move the section plane to the Y position

Positions the section plane normal to the Y axis.

Move the section plane to the Z position

Positions the section plane normal to the Z axis.

Specify the position of the section plane precisely

Lets you define precisely the position of the section precisely, by selecting either of the following:

  • A plane: the section is positioned on the plane.
  • Two coplanar lines: the section is positioned on the plane formed by the lines.
  • A line and a point: the section is positioned on the plane formed by the line and the point.
  • Three points: the section is positioned on the plane formed by the points.

Restore the original position of the section plane

Resets the section to its original position.

Define the current section plane position as HOME position

Sets the current section plane position as a reference for proceeding positions.

Switch the mode between XYZ and UVW

Positions the section plane normal according to global axis system.

Switch the mode between XYZ and UVW

Positions the section plane normal according to current Robot system.

Graphic Properties

Lets you edit the graphic properties of the section.

Delete the section

Deletes the section.

Hide/Show the section

Hides or shows the section.

Validate the Section

Ends and validates the section creation.

Switch to Freeze Mode

Switches the section plane to Freeze mode.

Switch to Auto Update Mode

Switches the section plane to Auto Update mode.

Switch to Manual Update Mode

Switches the section plane to Manual Update mode.

Select Predefined Plane

Selects a predefined plane during section creation.

Select the geometry to position section plane along

Selects an edge or surface to position a section.
