You can define and apply different material alternatives within a structure by
automating the process with knowledgeware parameters.
Before you begin:
You need to define the material alternatives in Data Setup. For more information, see: Installation and
Setup: Customize: Behavior: Data Setup User's Guide: Customization by Business Rules.
Start the Data Setup interface and locate the Material Alternate resource table.
Open the resource table to specify the eligible materials and their alternatives by
searching for and opening the material catalog in the top bar.
From the Materials node in the tree, right-click on the Core Material node and select
Define Material Alternatives.
A specific Define Material Alternatives panel
appears.
From the Add Alternative menu, select one or more material
alternatives formerly specified in Data Setup.
You can add multiple material alternatives. Click Remove
Alternative to delete one or
more alternatives.
Click Apply.
The alternative material is applied to the structure.
Important:
When you modify a currently applied material, click OK to
update the product structure.
If you delete the currently applied material from the panel, it will be replaced
with the first one on the list.
If you delete all of the materials from the panel, the connection remains on the
structure. Only the alternatives are removed from the connection.
