Importing Material Definitions from Previous Releases

You can import material data that was originally created in previous releases.

Before you begin:

Context:

If a material definition in the current release is not editable—either because you do not have sufficient privileges to edit the material or because the material is in the Released state—the background rendering process described in this section ignores that material and does not import any material data into it. In this case, the background rendering process also returns a message stating that the Elfini domain of the material cannot be migrated to the simulation domain and describes the reason for the blocked migration.

  • If the material definition you want to migrate is used in a simulation, you can skip the process described in this topic. The simulation migration process converts all Elfini domain data for the materials used in the simulation.
  • If a material has already been migrated—that is, if you have already migrated its Elfini domain data into the simulation domain— running the migration background rendered task again does not change its data.

  1. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Utility .
  2. In the Background Render Monitor dialog box, select the V6 CATIA Analysis Migration type and double-click or press [Enter].
  3. In the upper right corner, click 3DEXPERIENCE Platform Object Search .
  4. In the Search dialog box, select Generic Material as the Object type.
  5. Enter any other search criteria and click Apply.
  6. Click OK.
  7. To remove a material you do not want to import, right-click it in the list and select Objects to process > Remove.
  8. Click Run to perform the background render migration on the remaining material definitions in the list.
  9. Optional: Click Open Main HTML Report to view a report describing any errors or issues with the material features imported.
