Assembly Definition

Assembly Definition allows a user, possibly with a non-manufacturing background, to define within a 3D environment parent manufacturing structures, which comprise child manufacturing assemblies and manufactured parts.

In small and medium businesses, product structure and manufacturing assembly definitions are often done by the same user.

Users can organize the manufacturing assembly structure. which is initialized by the product structure, and then define the status of the various assemblies and parts (make/buy decision) in order to prepare manufacturing production.

When design changes to the product structure occur, users can determine what type of change was made (i.e., removing, adding, or modifying a part), and adjust the manufacturing assembly structure accordingly.

After creating the manufacturing assembly structure (corresponding to the manufacturing assembly structure), the user can interface with other DELMIA apps to:

  • detail the assembly sequence on a specific manufacturing assembly using Assembly Experience
  • detail planning for the assembly defined in the manufacturing assembly structure.
