How Materials Compliance Management Imports Internal Components

Materials Compliance Management uses different handling when importing MEP and IMDS internal components.

Since an internal component does not have a module ID, Materials Compliance Management does not reference it in an export.

This page discusses:

MEP Internal Components

Materials Compliance Management initially assumes that children of an internal data sheet are also internal. The app will create the entire BOM structure during import.

As soon as a component child is imported as a MEP, Materials Compliance Management will remove the entire BOM structure of the previously created corresponding CEP. Then the MEP (reported BOM) structure is recreated. Materials are disconnected from the host company and reconnected to the MEP supplier.

IMDS Internal Components

Internal simple components from IMDS will not be shared, sent to the customer, or published. This means the component cannot be referenced in an export. A user can either select to nest these components or insert them as new components.

Materials from IMDS are always created as external materials in Materials Compliance Management.
