Parts and Calculated Compliances

For enterprise parts (including plant-specific parts), there are up to six calculated compliance values for each compliance definition: Selected, Best Case, Worst Case, Make Selected, Make Best Case, and Make Worst Case. MEPs (Manufacturer Equivalent Parts) only have one calculated compliance value: Selected.

This page discusses:

Manufacturer Equivalent Parts

An MEP has a single calculated compliance: Selected.

The compliance of the MEP is based on its reported configuration.

Reported ConfigurationSelected Calculated Compliance Value
The Selected Calculated Compliance of any referenced MEP or Material is No.No
No MEPs or Materials are referenced, then the part is Unreported.Unreported
The Selected Calculated Compliance of a referenced MEP is Unreported or Contains Unreported Parts.Contains Unreported Parts
The Selected Calculated Compliance of all referenced MEPs and Materials is Yes.Yes

Enterprise Parts

Enterprise parts have six possible values of calculated compliance.

Calculated ComplianceDescriptionHow Compliance is Calculated
Make SelectedThe compliance of the make configuration of the part, consisting of the Selected compliances of the descendant parts (EBOM relationship) and materials (Component Material relationship of the part.

Reported ConfigurationMake Calculated Compliance
No parts or materials are referenced, the part is Unreported. Unreported
The Selected Calculated Compliance of any referenced part or material is No.No
The Selected Calculated Compliance of any referenced part is Contains Unreported Parts.Contains Unreported Parts
The Selected Calculated Compliance of all referenced parts and materials is Yes.Yes

SelectedThe compliance of the part in its selected configuration. If the part is configured to reference an MEP through the Selected Equivalent, this is the Selected compliance of the MEP. If the part does not reference an MEP, then this is the Make Selected compliance of the part.

Reported ConfigurationSelected Calculated Compliance
MEP is referenced with the Selected Equivalent relationThe Selected Calculated Compliance of the MEP is used.
No Selected Equivalent relation existsThe Make Selected Calculated Compliance of the part is used.

Make Worst CaseRepresents the worst case compliance of the make configuration of the part, which is the worst of the Worst Case compliance of the descendant parts (EBOM relationship) and materials (Component Material relationship) of the part.

Determined by comparing the Selected Calculated Compliance of all materials referenced by the part through the Component Material relation with the Worst Case Calculated Compliance of all parts referenced by the part through the EBOM relationship.

Reported ConfigurationMake Worst Case Calculated Compliance
No parts or materials are referenced, then the part is Unreported.Unreported
Any of the Calculated Compliance values is No.No
Any of the Calculated Compliance values is Contains Unreported Parts or Unreported (and none are No).Contains Unreported Parts
All of the Calculated Compliances are Yes.Yes

Worst CaseRepresents the worst case compliance of this part, which is computed as the worst compliance of any equivalent MEP or the Make Worst Case compliance, whichever is worst.

Determined by comparing the Selected Calculated Compliance of all MEPs associated with the enterprise part through the Manufacturer Equivalent relation with the Make Worst Case Calculated Compliance (unless the Make Worst Case Calculated Compliance is Unreported in which case it is ignored).

Reported ConfigurationWorst Case Calculated Compliance
The Selected Calculated Compliance of any of the MEPs or the Make Calculated Worst Case Compliance is No.No
The Selected Calculated Compliance of any of the MEPs is Contains Unreported Parts or Unreported or the Make Worst Case Calculated Compliance is Contains Unreported Parts (and none are No).Contains Unreported Parts
The Selected Calculated Compliance of all of the MEPs and the Make Worst Case Calculated Compliance is Yes.Yes

Make Best CaseRepresents the best case compliance of the make configuration of the part, which is the worst of the Best Case compliances of the descendant parts (EBOM relationship) and Materials (Component Material relationship) of the part.

Determined by comparing the Selected Calculated Compliance of all Materials referenced by the enterprise part through the Component Material relation with the Best Case Calculated Compliance of all parts referenced by the part through the EBOM relationship.

Reported ConfigurationMake Best Case Calculated Compliance
No parts or materials are referenced, then the part is unreported.Unreported
Any of the Calculated Compliance values is No.No
All of the Calculated Compliance values are Yes.Yes
Any of the Calculated Compliance values are Contains Unreported Parts or Unreported.Contains Unreported Parts

Best CaseRepresents the best case compliance of this part, which is computed as the best compliance of any equivalent MEP or the Make Best Case compliance, whichever is best.

Determined by comparing the Selected Calculated Compliance of all MEPs associated with the enterprise part through the Manufacturer Equivalent relation with the Make Calculated Compliance (unless the Make Calculated Compliance is Unreported in which case it is ignored).

Reported ConfigurationBest Case Calculated Compliance
The Selected Calculated Compliance of any of the MEPs or the Make Best Case Calculated Compliance is Yes.Yes
The Selected Calculated Compliance of any of the MEPs or the Make Best Case Calculated Compliance is No (and none are Yes).No
The Selected Calculated Compliance of all of the MEPs is Unreported.Contains Unreported Parts
