Generating the IMDS Validation Report

The IMDS Validation Report analyzes the parts, materials, substances of BOMs to find and display problems that occur when these objects are uploaded to IMDS. The IMDS Validation Report can be generated for one or more enterprise parts, MEPs, material declarations (containing reported parts), and reported parts.

Required access roles:

  • Baseline: Leader
  • App-specific: Senior Compliance Engineer

Use the Compliance menu to access this report. You can find this menu on the toolbar of any of these pages:

  • Properties page for a part
  • Compliance View page for a part
  • Equivalents category for a part
  • Compliance Portfolio app category for Materials Compliance Management
  • Bill Of Materials for the part

  1. Click Compliance > Reports > IMDS Validation.
  2. Select options for generating the report.

    Field Name Description
    Report Level Select a report level to perform validation, and then select the same level to perform an IMDS upload.
    • All
    • Level 1 only
    • Level 2 and above
    • Level 3 and above
    • Level 4 and above
    • Level 5 and above
    • Level 6 and above

    Reported Parts and MEPs are "Level 1 only" since they do not upload sub parts to IMDS.

    Export Minimum/Maximum Weight Choose Yes or No.
    Report Display
    • Errors and Repair options
    • Errors only
    Display Parent Select the check box to include parent information in the report.
    Dsiplay Top Level Part Select the check box to include the top level part in the report.
    Validations Select the validations to be performed:
    • Polymeric Marking
    • Substance Application
    • Material Symbol
    • Hidden or Deleted Substances
    • Confidential Substance Content
    • Mixed Nodes
    • Zero Weight Part
    • Material Classification
    • Substance/Substance Group Concentration
    • Process Chemicals
    • Part Description
    • Substance Content
    • No Joker for GADSL
    • Biocidal Materials

  3. Click Submit. The Report Output section shows the progress of the report. When the report is ready, click IMDS Validation.

The IMDS Validation report includes a tab for each validation that contained errors. Any validation that did not have any errors is not included in the report. See the topics in the rest of this section for details about the validation reports.
