About Publications

Publishing elements is the process of making an internal object of a product structure (geometry, parameter, or another publication) available to different users. Publications are used to separate the design from the pointed object by offering a higher level of objects with characteristics that are similar to the actual object.

The Publication command is used to publish, define, and create elements to be made available to different users.

This page discusses:

Object Selection

You can publish elements such as points, lines, curves, planes, sketches, bodies, part design features, and free style features.

The publication of an element inside a representation is the nominal case. A group of objects are published using geometric sets. If the content of a geometric set is not published, it is removed from the current set of objects and is not taken into account during the publish operation. One element can be published by multiple users working in concurrent engineering.

In Me > Preferences > Infrastructure > Product Structure Design, if you select the appropriate option in the Selection area, you can create publications of the following elements: faces, edges, vertices and axes extremities, the axis of a curved surface, and the feature of a body.

Publication on a Representation

To create a publication on a representation, the representation must be the UI active element.

You cannot create a publication on the representation of a 3D part. You must create the publication at the 3D part level.
