About the Advanced Automated FEM Method

The advanced Automated FEM method allows you to selectively apply predefined meshing procedures to the parts in an assembly.

Creating a FEM Based on Matching Rules

The advanced Automated FEM method gives you more control of the meshing process than the standard method. The advanced method offers more meshing procedures and includes rule based meshing procedures in additional to parameter based procedures, so you can use saved meshing rules to mesh the parts.

You can control which parts are meshed with each procedure. You can use the same procedure to mesh all the parts, or you can add different procedures and specify the parts to which they are applied. To use different multiple procedures, you can either specify parts with publications or parts whose name matches an entered string.

The advanced method includes several options for detecting and meshing connections in your assembly. You can:

  • Read the connection information from the design.
  • Create connections by detecting points.
  • Create connections by detecting lines.
  • Detect virtual bolts.
Each connection option includes fields so you can define the size, proximity, and tolerance to accurately detect and include the connections for your assembly.

When you complete your selections, you can generate the meshes and connections for the entire assembly.
