About the Acoustic Domain

An acoustic domain represents the physical acoustic medium (such as the air inside the cabin of a car) to be simulated in an acoustic simulation.

The acoustic domain can be thought of as a special kind of part in an acoustics simulation model. Similar to a solid structural part, the acoustic domain must be assigned material (section) properties and must be meshed before executing the simulation. Hex-dominant meshing is typically used for the acoustic medium.

An acoustic simulation is used to model the propagation of sound waves in an acoustic medium to study its noise and vibration characteristics.
