About FEM Representations in an Assembly

You can assemble child FEM representations under the existing top-level FEM.

Parts in the assembly can be meshed at multiple levels: part, subassembly, or assembly. You choose the meshes that are used in the assembly by selecting which FEM representations to include.

An assembly of component FEM representations is intended for use only in structural or thermal analysis cases. The assembled mesh cannot be exported via the context menu on the FEM representation.

Mapped simulation features can be applied to geometry supports contained in an assembly of component FEM representations. For more details, see Spatially Varying Mapped Data in your simulation scenario guide.

Sections and masses must be applied to the individual parts; you cannot apply them to an assembly. Connections join multiple parts; therefore, you can add them only to a subassembly or to the final assembly.
