Locating Disconnected Bodies

You can use the disconnected bodies tool to determine if any bodies in your model are tied together by surface-based contact. This tool helps you identify where you might need to define contact to ensure a successful simulation. Any geometric entities that are disconnected in the model are listed and can be highlighted.

  1. From the Connections section of the action bar, click Show Disconnected Bodies .
  2. Specify a Search domain.

    By default, the app searches the whole model for contacting surfaces. You can select candidate geometry supports by clicking individual components in the model.

  3. Click Find Disconnected Bodies.
    The table lists any bodies that have no contacts or connections. You can click a row in the table to highlight the corresponding body in the model.
  4. Close the dialog box.
  5. Define the appropriate contact or connection features for these parts using general contact, surface-based contact, or connections.
