Defining Derived Components

You can define derived components that you can use in connection property definitions.

You can define multiple derived component definitions.


Before you begin:
  • Create a new connection or edit an existing connection. To create a connection, see Defining Connectors.
  • In the connection dialog box, click to open the Behaviors editor.

  1. In the left pane of the Behaviors editor, click next to Derived Components and then click on the new Derived components definition.
    The Derived components editor appears on the right pane of the Behaviors editor.
  2. From the Term Operator options, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Square root of sum of squares Takes the square root of a sum of the squares of the contributing components.
    Direct sum Sums the contributing components directly.
    Macauley sum Sums the contributing components with a Macauley bracket function applied to each contribution.
  3. From the Overall term sign options, select Positive or Negative.
  4. From the Specify affected components options, select C1, C2, C3, CR1, CR2, CR3 to specify which components contribute to the derived component.
  5. From the Extrapolation options, select one of the following to define how the app handles any data that falls outside the specified range:
    OptionDescription
    Constant Uses the value equal to the nearest end point of the specified data.
    Linear Uses linear interpolation based on the slope of the curve at each end point.
  6. Enter values for the selected components.
