Defining Rule-Based Fasteners

You can define engineering rules to set fastener parameters.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: You must have a FEM with a fastener feature already created. Use the Create in current FEM option when creating the fastener (see Defining Point Fasteners and Defining Line Fasteners).

Create a Fastener Rule

  1. With the model open in Structural Model Creation, from the Compass, open the Engineering Rules Capture app.
  2. From the Engineering Rules Capture section of the action bar, select Rule .
    1. Optional: In the Name of Rule field of the Rule Editor dialog box, enter a descriptive name.
    2. Optional: Edit the Description.
    3. Click OK.
  3. Use the Rules Editor to define the rule.
  4. To view or edit the rule after it has been created, use one of the following methods:
    • From the tree, under the Relations node, double-click the rule.
    • In the fastener editor, next to the affected parameter, click Rule .

Deactivate a Fastener Rule

To deactivate a rule, use one of the following methods:
  • From the tree, under the Relations node, right-click the rule and select Deactivate.
  • In the fastener editor, next to the affected parameter, right-click Rule and select Deactivate.

Reactivate a Fastener Rule

From the tree, under the Relations node, right-click the rule and select Activate.
