About Automatic Generation of MBOMs

MBOM synchronization occurs whenever there are new revisions of the associated EBOM. The generated MBOMs are displayed in the MBOM Plant-Specific view.

A change order (MCO) is required to release any manufacturing change for a given plant. When the MBOM is generated, one MCO is also automatically generated for each associated plant, and connected to the end item part and also to the associated manufacturing responsibility change order. Implementing the MCO makes the MBOM current.

For MCOs that are auto-generated as part of BOM synchronization, start dates must be in incremental order. For example, MCO-0001 start date < MCO-0002 start date < MCO-0003 start date. Local MCOs that are not auto-generated can be released in any order.

An EBOM delta change represents the difference between two BOM revisions.

BOM revisions can have the following delta changes:

  • Add new components to the BOM:
    • The MBOM is updated by adding a new part when the part is added in the associated EBOM and the assembly is released.
    • When the new assembly is released with a new part addition, then the respective assembly in the MBOM is effected out with the start date of the newly-generated MCO.
  • Modify or replace existing components within the BOM: Modifying or replacing components results in effecting out the old revision and adding the new revision with new proposed date. MBOM update for BOM attribute modifications is performed.
  • Remove existing components from the BOM
  • Float on Release

MBOM delta calculation uses the compare criteria (Matched Based On) defined in the property key emxEngineeringCentral.EBOMUniqueness.

The modified components are identified if there are changes to the BOM attributes defined in the property key emxMBOM.MBOM.EBOMAttributesToCopy. Any change in value of any of these attributes will generate a new sequence MBOM connection
