Defining MEPs as Alternate Parts

You can define and use a MEP as an alternate to an engineering part.

Before you begin: An administrator must enable the function that allows MEPs to be defined as alternate parts.
  1. Search for and open the enterprise part that you want to contain the MEP.
  2. Click Equivalents in the enterprise part main menu.
  3. In the Actions menu, select from these options:
    1. To add a new MEP to the enterprise part, click Create New Mfg Equivalent and complete the Create New MEP form.
    2. To add an existing MEP to the enterprise part, click Add Existing and search for the part.
  4. Click the Define as Alternate icon in the Action column.
  5. When prompted, click OK to define the part as an alternate.

An MCO will be generated and the MBOM will be updated. After an MEP is defined as an alternate, you can go to corresponding parent part’s Bill of Materials ->Common view and authorize and select the MEP to be used.
