Generating Where Used in MBOM Reports

The Where Used page automates the process of listing all parent assemblies of a part in the MBOM. The page can be accessed from the Bill of Materials pages or the context menu of a part.

When an MBOM is generated from an EBOM, it may have the following parts as part of the structure:

  • root part
  • EC parts
  • synthetic parts
  • kit parts

The following parts cannot be edited in MBOM Plant-Specific View

  • root part
  • EC parts
  • synthetic parts
  • kit parts

You can use the filter to show specific items on the page.

  1. Access a part Properties page. See Part Properties.
  2. Click the Bill of Materials category.
  3. Click the Where Used tab.
By default, the EBOM where used page is displayed.
  4. Click and click MBOM from the first list.

The table displays two sections: BOM Attributes and Part Revisions (scroll right to see Part Revisions section).

    ColumnDescription
    ** BOM Attributes section
F/N The find number is an ID that is used on drawings as “bubble” callouts. Find numbers must be unique at any given level in the BOM. They are usually integer values: 1, 2, 3…
Ref Des Reference designator of the MBOM connection. The reference designator ID is used on printed circuit cards to indicate the location an electronic component is to be inserted. Reference designators are usually values like R1, R2, R7 or C1, C5 (R for resistor and C for capacitor)
Quantity Quantity of the part included in the MBOM assembly
Seq The connection's sequence for the given EBOM Uniqueness Identifier (EUI)
Start Date MCO start date, based on the plant time zone
End Date MCO end date, based on the plant time zone
MCO-In The MCO that effects in the MBOM connection
Remove The MCO that effects out the MBOM connection
Manufacturing Usage Code The manufacturing-specific identifier that can be used to distinguish the placement or location of a part in the context of a manufacturing process
Manufacturing Usage Description The manufacturing usage description included on the MBOM relationship
Status The status of the MBOM relationship. Possible values are Current, Pending, History
    ** Part Revisions section
    Name Parent part name
Type The part type or subtype
Policy The policy that governs the lifecycle and access permissions of the part
Description Description of the parent part
Revision Filtered parent part revisions. Click any highlighted link in this column to view the Properties page for that part revision.
Make-Buy Make / Buy code for each part revision for the given plant. Displayed in same sequence as part revisions
Start Date Start date for each part revision for the given plant, based on the plant time zone. Displayed in same sequence as part revisions
End Date End date for each part revision for the given plant, based on the plant time zone. Displayed in same sequence as part revisions
Status Status (Current/ Pending/ History) for each part revision for the given plant
