Adding a Template to a Catalog

You can create a catalog using the Design IP Classification app and add a mechanical interface or functional surface templates to its chapter.


Before you begin:
  • To perform this task you must be a Leader or you must have a customized role with the proper rights. For more information, see Roles: Who can do what.
  • Open a feature in a mechanical interface 3D shape representation and create its mechanical interface template or open a feature in a functional surface template 3D shape representation and create its functional surface template.
  1. In the top bar, select Add > Content.
  2. In the New Content dialog box, select Catalog.
    The catalog is created.
  3. To rename the catalog:
    1. Right-click the catalog, and select Properties.
    2. In the Properties dialog box, enter a new name.
    3. Click OK.
    The catalog is renamed.
  4. To insert a chapter:
    1. Right-click the catalog, and select Insert > New Chapter.
    2. In the Catalog Chapter dialog box, enter a name.
      Note: The name of the chapter must correspond exactly with the name of the appropriate part subtype.
    3. Click OK.
    The chapter is created under the catalog. You can create as many chapters as required.
  5. Right-click the chapter in the tree and select Insert > Insert Existing Object.
  6. Select the mechanical interface template or the functional surface template.
    The template is now added to the catalog.
    Tip: You can add the different templates of each representation in the same catalog to different chapters.
  7. Facilitate the author to use a catalog during the design process. To do so:
    1. Add keywords to the catalog
    2. Add components to the catalog
    3. Assign the catalog to a resource table
    4. Bind the resource table to the project
