Generating Experience Content

You can generate a set of lightweight data for later use in the 3DPlay, Physics Simulation Review, Product Perception Experience, or Creative Experience apps. For native simulations, you can select experience content options for Model, Scenario, and Results. For imported simulations, you can select only Results options.

  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Experience Content .
The Experience Content dialog box displays options for each analysis case of your simulation.
  2. From the Model options, activate or deactivate experience content generation for Mesh, Mesh quality, and Material.
  3. From the Scenario options, select the required Steps.
    OptionDescription
All stepsGenerates experience content for all steps in the results document.
All time-based stepsGenerates experience content for all steps with time-based results frames.
All frequency-based steps Generates experience content for all steps with frequency-based or mode-based results frames.
All time and increment-based stepsGenerates experience content for all steps with time-based and increment-based frames.
User selectionGenerates experience content for only the specific steps you specify.

By default, if you do not specify Scenario options, Physics Results Explorer generates experience content for a subset of steps and load cases.

  4. From the Results options, do one of the following in the Create column:
    • Select individual plots to include in the experience content.
    • Click the Create column heading to include all the available plots in the experience content.
  5. From the Support column for each selected plot, select the decomposition method to specify the level of granularity for content generation:
    OptionDescription
As current Generates experience content using the current display group support.
Whole model as a single block

Generates experience content for the whole model.

If your model has a large number of parts, this option increases performance. However, you cannot then select the individual parts in the lightweight viewer apps (3DPlay, Physics Simulation Review or Creative Experience).

    Whole model by part

Generates experience content for the model extracted by part.

This option enables you to retain the ability to manipulate the individual parts in the lightweight viewer apps.

    Select Display Group(s)

Generates experience content for the model extracted by display groups.

This option enables you to select one or more display groups from which to generate experience content for the lightweight viewer apps.

    Tip:
    • Right-click the row for the plot and select Apply to all plots to propagate the Support choice for the selected plot to all other plots.
    • Right-click the value, and select Reset all to recommended to return the Support to its original value.

  6. If you selected Select Display Groups(s) for a plot in the previous step, specify which display groups for which you want to create experience content, and click OK.

You can filter the list of display groups before making your selection. This is helpful when you have many display groups in the model.

  7. From the Animate column, do one of the following:
    • Select individual plots to enable animation in the experience content.
    • Double-click the value to change the animation assignment for a given plot:
      • No - No animation occurs.
      • Yes, default - Plays the animation using time history or scale factor animation, depending on number of computed frames.
      • Yes, scan single frame - Plays the animation using scan single frame animation on last frame of selected steps.
    • Right-click the row for the plot, and select Apply to all plots to impose the scale factor for the selected plot on all other plots.

Tip: Right-click the value, and select Reset all to recommended to return the animation factor to its original value.

  8. From the Scale factor column, do one of the following:
    • Double-click the value to change the scale factor for a given plot.
    • Right-click the value, and select Apply to all plots to impose the scale factor on all plots.

Tip: Right-click the value, and select Reset all to recommended to return the scale factor to its original value.

  9. Optional: For frequency-based steps, select the Number of non-rigid modes.
  10. Specify the Animation Options:
    1. Time history: Specifies the number of frames for time history animation. Time history animation contains images that change with the time progression of the simulation results.
    2. Scale factor type: Specifies the number of frames for scaled animation. Scale factor animation produces a sequence of images created from a single step and frame of the simulation results over the interval from the first frame to the current frame. The images vary in the scale factors applied to the single deformation and results output.
    3. Scan single frame: Specifies the number of frames for scan single frame animation. Scan single frame animation produces a sequence of images from a single frame of simulation results. The images vary in the value of the upper limit applied to the results. This mode is particularly useful for animating material filling the mold cavity in injection molding simulations.
  11. Optional: Click Recommended Settings to use the recommended settings for all standard and advanced options.
  12. Decide when to generate the experience content:
    OptionDescription
OK Saves all selections without generating the experience content. Choose this option when you have large simulations you want to run later or run multiple times.
Generate Saves all selections and generates the experience content. The app displays a progress bar while it is generating content. When it finishes, a message appears reminding you to save the experience content.
Cancel Cancels all selections and closes the dialog box without generating the experience content.

Tip: You can click Stop at any time to end the generation process.

  13. Select Share > Save > Save All to save your experience content.

You can now use the lightweight viewer apps to review the experience content.
