Eligible Support Types for Resultant Sensors

The loads, restraints, and connectors that are eligible for selection as support for a resultant sensor depend on how the load or restraint was defined. You can select a load as support only if its support was a point or an edge.

Restraints

You can use a restraint as support for a resultant sensor only for a subset of restraints that depend on restraint type and the type of support used in the restraint definition. The full list of eligible restraint definitions and support selections follows.

Planar Symmetry Face, point, or edge
Bolt Restraint (includes meshed bolts) Pre-tension node location
Ball Joint Cylindrical surfaces and rigid reference nodes

Slider Coplanar surfaces

Loads

In most cases, you can select a load as support for a resultant sensor only if the load was defined with a point or an edge as its own support. The full list of eligible load definitions and support selections follows.

Bolt Force Virtual bolt connection. The resultant sensor value is available at the pre-tension node location.
Bolt Displacement Virtual bolt connection. The resultant sensor value is available at the pre-tension node location.
Applied Translation Edge or point
Prescribed Temperature Edge or point

Connector Sections

You can select connector sections as supports for a resultant sensor only if results for connector force and connector moment are available from the SIM file.

Connector Sections Eligible support
Connector Connector element with a connector section set to the type of connector you defined when you created the feature. You can select an assembled connector type or a combination of translational and rotational connector types.
Rigid Connector element with a connector section set to BEAM.
Spring Connector element with a connector section set to AXIAL or BUSHING.
