Displaying Maxima and Minima in a Curve

You can find the minimum or maximum value for the entire curve or for a range of values you specify. The measured value is at a discrete curve data point; values are not interpolated.

Before you begin: Open an existing X-Y plot from the Feature Manager, or create a new X-Y plot.

About X-Y Plots
  1. From the X-Y Plots Viewer, right-click a point on the curve and select Create Indicator from the context menu.
The Create Indicator dialog box appears.
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. From the Type options, specify Maximum or Minimum as the type of indicator you are creating.

Your selection determines which extrema value is displayed in the chart.

  4. Optional: Specify the Minimum X and Maximum X values for the Range of values that you want to investigate.

The default range is the entire X-Y plot, but you can adjust the range to investigate local maxima and minima.

The chart displays a horizontal line with a width that displays the selected range of values and a Y-value equal to the maximum or minimum value.
