Exporting Resultant Sensor Output

You can export the resultant sensor output, including the axis directions, as a comma-separated value (.csv) file. The .csv file is a convenient way to share the data for further analysis. You can save the .csv file to a specified directory, or you can save it to the cloud as a PLM engineering document.

  1. From the Sensors tab of the Feature Manager, select the resultant sensors you want to export, right-click, and select Export.

Tip: You can also export resultant sensors from the tree or from the resultant sensor glyph on the model.

The Export Sensor Outputs dialog box appears.
  2. From the Target options, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
File on disk Saves the output data as a .csv file to the specified directory.
PLM document Saves the output data as a .csv file to the PLM.

The PLM document is an engineering document that you save to the cloud. From search results, you can download the PLM document to your machine to access the file.

When you save the output data to the PLM, the document updates each time you export the same sensor. For example, if you export Sensor 1 as a PLM document, resolve the simulation with new parameters and export Sensor 1 again, the PLM updates the file with the latest values.

Note: After exporting the sensor output, you must save the simulation to save the file to the platform. When you export output as a .csv file to the PLM, the document opens on your machine; however, it is not saved to your machine unless you save it manually.

Note: If you selected multiple resultant sensors, only the File on disk option is available. All the selected sensors are exported in a single file.

  3. Name the file and browse to the location where you want to save the resultant sensor data.

Note: The folder name cannot contain Unicode characters, such as accents and other diacritical marks.

  4. From the Column separator options, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
Semicolon (;) Inserts a semicolon between entries.
Comma (,) Inserts a comma between entries.
  5. Optional: Select Export axis directions to include information in the .csv file on the axis used to create the sensor.
  6. Click OK.

The resultant sensor output data is exported to the specified location.
