Controlling Chart Display in the X-Y Plots Viewer

You can display multiple plots in the X-Y Plot Viewer, which allows you to easily compare different plots. At any time, you can remove the plots you no longer need.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Open an existing X-Y plot from the Feature Manager, or create a new X-Y plot. To remove a chart, you must have more than one chart in the X-Y Plots Viewer.

Add a Chart to the X-Y Plots Viewer

  1. Right-click a point anywhere within the X-Y Plots Viewer, and select Edit > Add Empty Chart.
    A new empty chart appears underneath the existing chart.
  2. Repeat Step 1 to add as many new charts as required.

    The active chart is bounded by a blue box. Click a chart to make it the active chart.

If you create a new X-Y plot, the curve appears in the active chart. You can now compare data from two or more curves.

Remove a Chart from the X-Y Plots Viewer

For the chart you want to remove, right-click a point anywhere within the X-Y Plots Viewer and select Edit > Remove Chart.

The active chart is removed from the X-Y Plots Viewer.

Modify the Chart Layout

You can modify the arrangement of the charts within the X-Y Plots Viewer.

  1. From the X-Y Plots Viewer, select Plot Options .
    The Options dialog box appears.
  2. From the list of options, select Layout.
  3. Select a chart layout:
    OptionDescription
    Horizontal The charts are arranged with the long axis running left to right.
    VerticalThe charts are arranged side by side with the long axis running bottom to top.
    GridThe charts are arranged in a user-specified grid pattern of rows and columns.
  4. If you selected Grid in the previous step, select the Maximum number of columns or the Maximum number of rows.

Synchronize the X-Axes of Charts

You can synchronize your charts so that the same scale is depicted for each chart you are comparing.

  1. From the X-Y Plots Viewer, select Plot Options .
    The Options dialog box appears.
  2. From the list of options, select Layout.
  3. Select Synchronize X axes to synchronize the scale of the X-axes between two or more charts.
  4. Select Show X axes to show the X-axis values.
