Import Support for Abaqus Features

You can import data from a simulation performed in Abaqus into Physics Results Explorer. Not all entities in an Abaqus-generated SIM, ODB, INP, OP2, BDF, DAT, or NAS database are supported, and the presence of unsupported elements can block import of the SIM database. The tables below list the supported, unsupported, unqualified, and blocked features. For the supported features, where appropriate, the tables describe how they are mapped to features in a simulation document in Physics Results Explorer.

This page discusses:

Elements

You can import various types of Abaqus elements into Physics Results Explorer.

For import purposes there are four categories of Abaqus elements:

  • Supported: Elements that you can import into the app and display in your results.
  • Not Qualified: Elements that are not imported but whose presence in your SIM or ODB database does not prevent import of your data into the app. These elements are brought into Physics Results Explorer but have not been tested, and therefore, cannot be guaranteed to work properly.
  • Blocked: Elements that, if present in your results, prevent the entire SIM or ODB database from being imported into the app.
  • Removed: Elements that are removed at the time of import and removed from the model display.
