-
Open the Display Groups
context toolbar
using one of the following methods:
- Click the model, and select
from the
context toolbar
that appears.
- From the
Display section of the
action bar,
click
Display Groups
.
-
Click
from the Display Groups
context toolbar.
The
Display Groups dialog box appears and opens to
the
Select tab
.
-
From the
Item options, select
Values.
-
From the
Method options, choose
Element results or
Node results as your filter criteria.
The
Selection pane displays the field values you
used to create your plot.
-
In the
Field section, make any required changes to
the field plot.
The available fields vary according to the content of
your simulation. For a complete description of available
field plot options, see Displaying Contour, Isocontour, and Symbol Plots.
-
In the
Range section, select a method to refine your
results:
-
Select
Above,
Below,
Between, or
Outside to specify the boundaries of your
range.
-
Fill in the required value for
Min,
Max, or both, to set the boundaries.
The combination you choose determines the range of results
included in the display group. For example, if you choose:
-
Above and
Min = 0.925, only those values greater
than 0.925 are eligible for display group assignment.
- Below and
Max = 1.783, only those values less than
1.783 are eligible for display group assignment.
- Between,
Min = 0.578, and
Max = 0.987, only those values greater
than or equal to 0.578 and values less than or equal to 0.987 are eligible for
display group assignment.
- Outside,
Min = 25, and
Max = 75, only those values less than 25
and values greater than 75 are eligible for display group assignment.
- Optional:
Select
Include entities without value to include
elements with no results data in your display group.
There are two reasons elements might not have results data:
- Data was not requested for a region of the model. For example, output
requests might specify certain element types that are not present in all
regions.
- Data is not valid for that region. For example, output requests for a
fluid domain are not valid for a structural domain.
Note:
To ensure that your display group uses only elements that contain results
data, leave this option cleared. This is helpful in large models to exclude
the elements that have no results data. In these simulations, only part of
the model displays data while other parts, grayed out in the legend, have
none.
- Optional:
Select
Tighter selection (only if entirely within
range) to restrict the results to only those elements with values
entirely within the specified range.
For example, a single element might contain values that span the cutoff. Suppose that
there are four nodes with values of 125, 125, 175, and 175, with intermediate
values between the nodes. If your range cutoff is 150, this element would be
excluded because it is not wholly within the specified range.
If this option is cleared, the element remains visible in the
results as part of the element is within range (the max value).
-
Select
Highlight to highlight the results in the
model.
-
Use the Boolean operators at the bottom of the dialog box to
customize the selected items. The following options are available:
Option | Description |
---|
|
Replace your display group and display all entities in the
current viewport.
Note:
Replace All works for model parts and
elements only. It does not show or hide the display of coordinate systems.
|
---|
|
Hide all the model components that are displayed in the
current display group and display all the model components that were hidden.
Note:
The
Invert display operator works for model
parts and elements only. It does not show or hide the display of coordinate
systems.
|
---|
The elements displayed change according to your selection.
-
Use the Boolean operators at the top of the dialog box to
customize the selected items. The following options are available:
Option | Description |
---|
|
Replace the current viewport contents with your selection.
|
---|
|
Add your selection to the current viewport
contents. |
---|
|
Remove your selection from the current viewport contents.
If your selection includes one or more elements or surfaces, the nodes
connected to those items are also removed, provided that you have not
specifically operated to include those nodes in the display group. |
---|
|
Display only those items common to your selection and the
display in the current viewport. |
---|
|
Display only model components that are either in your
selection or in the current viewport but not in both. |
---|
The elements displayed change according to your selection.
-
If you have node sets or internal node sets, select
With Associated Parts,
With Associated Elements, or
Without Associations to view the node or node
set with or without associations.
For example, if you select
With Associated Parts, the display of node
sets is now expanded to show each part that these node sets belong to.
Similarly, if you select
With Associated Elements, the display of node
sets is now expanded to also show the elements that these node sets belong to.
-
In the
Entity display section, select a method to
statically or dynamically filter your results:
-
Select
Static: Display entities using values from current
frame to statically filter your results.
-
Select
Dynamic: Re-calculate displayed entities as frame
changes to dynamically filter your results as you move from one
frame to another.
Note:
You cannot create value filters for normalized results. Clear
Normalize displacements for frequency to
create a value filter in this case.
- Optional:
Click the
Summary tab
to review your selections.
-
Click
Close.
