Generating a Primitive

You can generate basic primitives like Generative Shape Design (GSD) Point, Plane, and Axis system from the point cloud. These primitives can be used for commands like Snap, Measure, or Insert Existing Product or Resource.

Before you begin:
  • Select a resource or manufacturing cell containing a point cloud.
  1. Select the representation reference for point cloud in the tree or in the work area.
If primitives already exist, they appear in a list in the Generate Primitive Options panel. A context toolbar enables you to choose among the Point, Plane, or Axis commands.
  2. To select the required section of point cloud, click Point for trap selection to generate GSD points.
  3. Select a handle attached to the selected primitive to modify its position and transformation.
  4. Change the selection to Plane.
    Trap selection generates GSD planes.
  5. To modify the Visibility or Color, use the list view options in the Generate Primitive Options panel.
  6. Measure the distance between two entities by clicking Measure Between from the Tools section of the action bar.
Picking on the large point cloud only works in the Picking point mode.
