Extracting Resource Data in Drafting

You can extract resource data in a drafting view. For that, you must define the resource category and attributes in a specific XML document. This data is then used in Drafting.

Before you begin: Make sure that the Prevent generative view style usage option is not selected in the Me > Preferences > Mechanical Design > Drafting > Administration tab. This enables you to create and use generative view styles. Load your data in the Plant Layout Design app. You also use Drafting in this scenario.
  1. To extract the resource data, define the resource category and attributes under the category in the XML document to extract them in a drafting view.

    A sample is available in:

    ..\resources\standard\generativeparameters\SAMPLESResourceLayout_GVSSample.xml

It has attributes defined in the Resource category.

Important: During drafting view generation, resource data can only be extracted if the resource is the root of the document. If the resource is not the root, you need to open it in a new window.
  2. In Properties > Resource tab, whose data is to be extracted, enter Resource in the Category field and set other attribute values as required.

  3. Under the resource, insert a New Rep (type) - Drawing.
  4. Create a Front View.
  5. In the Drafting app, from Generative View Style, select ResourceLayout_GVSSample.
  6. Select a planar surface to create a front view-projection.

The following are examples of extracted data with the generated 2D view:
