Attribute Mapping from/to ENOVIA

The Collaboration for Microsoft supports the mapping of attributes from or to ENOVIA for summary and custom attributes.

This page discusses:

Summary Attributes

You can preview the properties of the document in summary attributes.

In Microsoft Office, you can access summary attributes by clicking Prepare > Properties in the toolbar ribbon.

Note: Prepare is not available by default. See MS Office Help for information about customizing the toolbar ribbon.

GCO Mapping for Summary Information

You may have a custom attribute named 'Title' or 'Subject', but this attribute already exists in the summary information.

To differentiate between summary information and custom attributes, the syntax to state the GCO mapping is specified. The integration treats summary information as system attributes to differentiate it from custom attributes having the same name.

While specifying GCO mapping, the name of the summary attribute for the client is enclosed between '$$' signs.

For example, the mapping for the MSOffice summary attribute Subject with the ENOVIA system attribute Description is as follows:

MCADInteg-CADToMxAttribMapping: msword,$$Subject$$|MS Word Document,$$Description$$
MCADInteg-MxToCADAttribMapping: MS Word Document,$$Description$$ |msword,$$Subject$$
Note: The summary attributes have to be mapped in the GCO using English names on a Japanese OS.

The following table list the supported system attributes in ENOVIA for to-and-fro transfer.

Table 1. System Attributes in ENOVIA
DirectionDescription Description Owner Type Name Revision
To ENOVIA Supported Not Supported Not Supported Not Supported Not Supported
From ENOVIA Supported Supported Supported Supported Supported

Note: You need to map the Title field in the MCADInteg-CADToMxAttribMapping field of the GCO to update the Title field for files after performing drag-and-drop on multiple files of different CAD types.

Custom Attributes

These are custom properties defined by the user.

Navigate to File > Properties > Custom in the Microsoft Office application to view custom properties

GCO Mapping for Custom Properties

For example, the mapping for the custom attribute Material with the ENOVIA attribute Material is as follows:

MCADInteg-CADToMxAttribMapping: msword,Material|MS Word Document,Material
MCADInteg-MxToCADAttribMapping: MS Word Document,Material|msword,Material

Link to Content

You can use Link to Content to map the custom attributes using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

  1. Link to Content using Microsoft Excel
    • Create an excel file.
    • Edit a cell in Microsoft Excel and name the cell.
    • Click Properties from File.
    • Click Advanced Properties option and select Custom.
    • Select Link to Content check box.
    • In the Name tab, provide a name and click Add.
    • Provide a value to this cell.
    • The provided value is linked to the cell and is displayed in the Properties.

You can map the attributes using this saved template. You can also synchronize the attributes to exchange the data between document and 3DEXPERIENCE.

  2. Link to Content using Microsoft Word
    • Create a Microsoft Word file.
    • Insert a bookmark and name the bookmark.
    • Click Properties from File.
    • Click Advanced Properties option and select Custom.
    • Select Link to Content check box.
    • In the Name tab, provide a name and click Add.
    • Provide a value to this bookmark.
    • The provided value is linked to the bookmark and is displayed in the Properties.

You can map the attributes using this saved template. You can also synchronize the attributes to exchange the data between document and 3DEXPERIENCE.

  3. Link attributes
    • Create an attribute in 3DEXPERIENCE.
    • Add the Mx and CAD attributes. For an example,
      MCADInteg-CADToMxAttribMapping: msword,Material|MS Word Document,Material
      MCADInteg-MxToCADAttribMapping: MS Word Document,Material|msword,Material
    • Follow the same procedure explained above using Microsoft Excel or Microsoft word.
    • The provided value is linked to the bookmark or cell and is displayed in the Properties.

You can map the attributes using this saved template. You can also synchronize the attributes to exchange the data between document and 3DEXPERIENCE.

Note: Link to Content is only supported for MS Word and MS Excel.
