Adding a Custom Attribute to Microsoft Office Document and ENOVIA Document Type

Custom attributes in ENOVIA are ones that are defined and added to ENOVIA Document types. This task shows you how to map attributes from ENOVIA for synchronization.

  1. To add a custom Department attribute in Microsoft Office and map it in ENOVIA, for Microsoft Office side, do the following:
    1. Open a document in Microsoft Office.
    2. Click File > Properties > Custom.
    3. Add a Custom attribute called Department (text attribute) and specify an Accounts value.
  2. To add a custom Department attribute in Microsoft Office and map it in ENOVIA, for ENOVIA side, do the following:
    1. In ENOVIA define an attribute called Department (string type).

      Note: Name can be different.

    2. Add the attribute Department to the relevant ENOVIA types.
    3. For supporting Microsoft Office to ENOVIA attribute transfer, map this Department attribute in MCADInteg-CADToMxAttribMapping attribute of Global Config Object. In this case the mapping will be: msword,Department|MS Word Document,Department

For supporting ENOVIA to Microsoft Office attribute transfer, map Department attribute in MCADInteg-MxToCADAttribMapping attribute of current Global Config Object. In this case the mapping will be: MS Word Document,Department|msword,Department

With these settings, if a user sets Department attribute in Microsoft Office document , it will be transferred to ENOVIA and back. Alternatively, the user can synchronize the attribute using Synch Attributes.
