Configuring General Preferences

You can configure the general preferences for Collaboration for Microsoft.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: In the system tray, click the Collaboration for Microsoft and click Settings. The Collaboration for Microsoft Client Configurations dialog box appears.
Note: You can also double-click Collaboration for Microsoft to open the Collaboration for Microsoft Client Configurations dialog box.

Configure Connection Settings

You can configure client-server authentication using the options available in the Connection settings section.

  1. Navigate to the General tab.
  2. Browse and select the server URL in the Server url box.
    1. Click to browse different saved server URLs. In the Select Server URL dialog box, click Select to provide the selected URL.
  3. Clear the Validate Certificate check box to stop validating the certificate for HTTPS connections.

    Important: This check box is selected by default. When the URL contains https, the request sent may require a valid certificate for the Collaboration for Microsoft client to log in successfully. To ensure that the https URL you are using checks that the certificate is issued by a trusted party (usually a trusted root CA) and has a valid certificate, open the web user interface. If you receive a warning from your web browser about the certificate being invalid, Collaboration for Microsoft may fail to log in. If it is a trusted website, you can choose to ignore the certificate validation by clearing the Validate Certificate check box.

    The Server TimeOut (minutes) is defined to 2, by default.

  4. Click OK.

Configure General Settings

You can configure a new localized dictionary file for the Collaboration for Microsoft client.

  1. Create a copy of the MSF.en.xml English dictionary file.

    The dictionary files for each language are present at <Installation Location>\win_b64\resources\dictionaries.

  2. Rename the copied file for the appropriate language file.

    For example, MSF.ko.xml for Korean. Choose the language code (ko) based on the culture name.

  3. Edit the renamed files with the specific language values and save the changes.

    Note: This only translates client-specific fields. Values received from the server are not translated.

    English(en), French(fr), German(de), Italian (it), Spanish (es), Chinese (zh-CN), and Japanese(ja) languages are supported out of the box. You can customize the client UI to display a language that is not supported out of the box.

  4. From the General settings section, select the Language displayed in Collaboration for Microsoft from the list.
  5. Ensure that the Show Exit option in context menu for 3DEXPERIENCECollaborationForMicrosoft.exe check box is selected.
  6. Click OK.

After the language file, for example, MSF.ko is created at <Installation Location>\win_b64\resources\dictionaries, you have to delete the MSF.ko.xml file present at C:\ProgramData\DassaultSystemes\Collaboration for Microsoft Client\<User name>\Resources and restart the explorer for the changes to take effect.

Configure Trace Settings

You can configure the function that maintains logs for Collaboration for Microsoft using options available in the Trace Configuration area.

  1. Ensure that the Enable logs to trace integration functionality (this will impact performance) check box is selected.
  2. ChangeView Logs to open the log folders.

    The log files are located at C:\ProgramData\DassaultSystemes\ENOVIA Collaboration for Microsoft\<User name>\Logs.

    The View Logs dialog box opens where you can browse to the respective folder and open the log file.
  3. Click OK.

Configure Cache Settings

Collaboration for Microsoft uses caching for all navigated folder locations. You can configure the settings for cache, using options available in the Cache Settings section.

  1. Improve performance by caching folder contents for the given duration.

    Select the duration for expiry of the cache.

  2. Click OK.

This cache is cleared automatically if you log out of the app.

Configure Explore in Browser Settings

You can configure the explore in browser setting that shows documents opened in the Microsoft Office applications within the browser.

  1. From Explorer in Browser Setting, do one of the following.
    • Select Collaboration & Approvals.
    • Select Document Management.
  2. Click OK.
