Support of Sub Projects in Microsoft Project

Microsoft Project Integration supports the creation and management of sub projects.

The following functions are available in Microsoft Project Integration that support sub projects:

  • You can add a sub project to a 3DEXPERIENCE project using Microsoft Project.
  • You can load a project that has sub projects from 3DEXPERIENCE to Microsoft Project.
  • You can now work with projects consisting of multiple sub projects at the same time.
    Tip: Note the following:
    • A sub project can be either an actual based project or an estimated based project. Do not combine an actual based and an estimated based project.
    • You must modify the sub project file to make any changes in the summary node of the sub project.
  • If a project contains a sub project,
    • To reset the view of the current project and not its sub project, click Reset view.
    • You can reload the sub projects of a project using Reload.
    • If you click Clone, the project and its sub project are cloned.
    • If you open a project, which contains a sub project, from 3DEXPERIENCE a copy of the sub project is created with the latest data.
    • If you open a sub project from 3DEXPERIENCE, the copy of the sub project from the working directory is located and opened.
    • When you delete a sub project from 3DEXPERIENCE, it is disconnected from 3DEXPERIENCE but not deleted.
    • When you add a project saved in 3DEXPERIENCE as a sub project to a project that is not saved in 3DEXPERIENCE, both the project and the sub project are created in 3DEXPERIENCE. If you add aa project saved in 3DEXPERIENCE as a sub project to another project saved in 3DEXPERIENCE, both the projects are directly connected in 3DEXPERIENCE.
    • To add another sub project under project you need to collapse existing sub project.
    • To add task under project you need to collapse existing sub project.
  • You must manually remove the external dependencies in a project before working with Microsoft Project Integration.
