Transfer Data
In the 3DEXPERIENCE ribbon, the Save function is enables you to do the following:
- Create a project in Microsoft Project and save it in 3DEXPERIENCE
- Save an existing Microsoft Project file that is not a Project Management project in 3DEXPERIENCE
- Edit an existing Project Management project in Microsoft Project and save the changes in 3DEXPERIENCE. This can be done using Open or Search from the 3DEXPERIENCE ribbon if you have the Project Lead role.
Note:
When an existing Microsoft Project file is loaded, both Reload and Save
in the toolbar ribbon are available, whereas, in the case of a new project, Reload is disabled and
only Save
is enabled.
The data transferred between 3DEXPERIENCE and Microsoft Project includes task names, actual task start and end dates, actual task duration, WBS ID, resource names, dependencies, and project schedule information including the Schedule From attribute and constraints.

To load data from Project Management to Microsoft Project, click
Open in the 3DEXPERIENCE toolbar ribbon and select a project.

Click
Reload in the toolbar ribbon.
A page containing a comparison between the project structure in Microsoft Project
and Project Management appears. - To create or merge a Microsoft Project file with Project Management, click Save from the 3DEXPERIENCE ribbon.
The Compare and Selective sync dialog box, which contains a comparison between the project structure in Microsoft Project and that of Project Management appears, if the project already exists in 3DEXPERIENCE. The Compare and Selective sync dialog box does not appear if you are creating a new project. Note:
Any blank rows or lines present in a Microsoft Project file will be deleted before it is saved in 3DEXPERIENCE.
- To load data from Microsoft Project to Project Management, select Add task to Project Management from the Microsoft Project
panel in the respective app.
On premises only: Your Business Administrator can configure the special characters that can be used in the task name.
- To view differences between the data and selectively synchronize the data, use these buttons that appear between the two panes:

Note:
At the bottom-right of the page, you can see the number of highlighted differences, out of all the differences.
- To apply all the changes, from the Project Management panel, click Sync All.
- After making changes, click Submit to save the changes
in Project Management.
Note:
The value of project lag time differs between Microsoft Project, and Project Management.
Use Fractural Duration
Using Collaboration for Microsoft, you can
save and reload projects from Project Management in Microsoft Project in which the values of the estimated duration of tasks are in fractional days, hours, and weeks, and these are real values.
Required access roles: Author, Leader, Owner
For example, suppose that fractional values are specified in the Estimated Duration for a
project schedule in Microsoft Project. When the project is merged with Project Management, the fractional values are
displayed in the Duration column of the WBS page.
