Creating a QR Code for Text and Documents

You can create a QR code to represent text or an existing document and add it to your document.

Required access roles: Author, Leader, Owner

You can use any QR code scanner to retrieve the information encoded in the QR code.

You can create a QR code to represent some text and add it to your document.

Required access roles: Author, Leader, Owner

  1. From the Microsoft Office application, navigate to the 3DEXPERIENCE ribbon.
  2. Click QR Code > Free Text .
    The Insert QR Code pane appears.



  3. Provide the text you want to represent as a QR code in the Enter text to encode box.

    Note: You can enter a limited number of characters in the text that depends on the input mode.

  4. Click Insert.

A QR code is generated for the text and added to the document at the insertion point.

Creating a QR Code for a Document

You can create a QR code to represent an existing document and add it to your current document.

Required access roles: Author, Leader, Owner

  1. From the Microsoft Office application, navigate to the 3DEXPERIENCE ribbon.
  2. Click QRCode > Document .
    The Insert QRCode dialog box appears.
  3. Browse to a folder and select the document you want to represent as a QR code.
  4. Click Insert.

A QR code is generated for the document and added to your current document at the insertion point.

The QR code generated for the document represents a URL in the following format:

http(s)://SERVER_HOST:SERVER_PORT/WEB_APP/common/emxNavigator.jsp?objectId=XXX
where XXX represents the object ID of the version object linked to the selected document. You can open this URL and access other information about the document from the web user interface.
