About Place Components

Place Components makes selecting, positioning, and inserting components easy.

This page discusses:

General Information

By taking full advantage of tooling attributes, Place Components provides the following capability.

  • Processing of components such as Components or a Form Ejection Components on a Form Ejection Component Reservation.
  • Smart positioning.
  • Work on several levels of the product structure.
  • Ability to position a component several times without selecting it again.
  • Creation of the connection between Hook and Component Specification.
  • Automatic management of external references. If reconnecting is impossible, a message is displayed. The cause may be missing publications, several publications resulting in inconsistency, or missing instance name product.
  • Search and selection of the compatible components to connect (context driven positioning).
  • Filtering of compatible Hook/Component Specification solutions.
Note: The filtering efficiency varies with the degree of preparation of the model.
    • When using basic Hooks and Component Specifications, a basic positioning is proposed.
    • By adding attributes to the components to match the information provided by the Component Specifications, you are proposed components compatible in type, length, diameter, height.
  • Optional computation of the impacts.
  • Optional cut of the components, if applicable.
  • Adjustment of components and mechanical constraints with offsets.

Place Components provides an "assemble" behavior.

Note: The Component instance is created under the active product.

Form Ejection Components on a Form Ejection Component Reservation

You can use Place Components to place Form Ejection Components on a Form Ejection Component Reservation. Expected attributes are retrieved as for any other component.

A Form Ejection Component Reservation is made of points, either points that share the same diameter, or centers of circles that have different diameters. Each point or circle center is viewed as a virtual Component Specification to be connected to the component Hook and behaves as such.

  • The virtual Component Specification inherits the expected type from the Form Ejection Component Reservation.
  • The diameter is inherited from the Form Ejection Component Reservation (fixed diameter) or computed from the sketch inner diameter (free diameters).
  • It has the minimum length associated to each position.
  • Only the selected Form Ejection Component Reservation is populated.

Form Ejection Component Reservations enable a conceptual approach of the Mold Base to compute clashes.

In addition to actions listed above, you can compute the cut of the Form Ejection Components by the cut surface defined in the Form Ejection Component Reservation, and populate or not all the compatible positions of the Form Ejection Component Reservation.
