Adding Content

You can use a Component in Smart Mechanical Components provided it contains a Hook, that is a published axis system, added with Define Component. The Component can be an existing product, or one you create with Add > New Content. It can have a type, but this is not mandatory.

  1. Select Add > Content.
    1. Under Types, scroll down to Tooling Design and choose the product type.
    2. Optional: Right-click the icon and select Set attributes at creation.

      This enables you to edit the title of the product and to enter a description, or edit more attributes when they exist.

    3. Once the product is created, start the required command to create the corresponding Components.
  2. Alternatively, right-click a product and select Insert > Productor 3D Shape or Representation
    1. Scroll down to Tooling Designe and choose a type.
    2. Once the product is inserted, start the required command to create the corresponding Components.
  3. A Component type is proposed and visualized by an icon. If you need another type, click this icon, and select another type in the browser that appears.
  4. Optional: To add your own customer extension to an extensible Component:
    1. Go to the Collaborative Lifecycle app.
    2. From the LifeCycle section, select Customer Extension and select the Component.
    3. Select an extension from the list, and click OK.
    This extension appears in the attributes of the Component and can be used for searching or filtering, for example. See Knowledge Basics for more information.
