Creating an Engineering Template Containing Meta Inputs
You can create an engineering template containing meta inputs.
Note:
Meta
inputs
are designed to group inputs to avoid mass-selection at instantiation and reduce the number of clicks.
Before you begin:
Import and open the .3dxml file you are working on.
From the
Compass
, click
3D Modeling Apps
and select
Engineering Templates
.
Type
the name of the template and click
OK
.
The
Engineering Template
tab opens.
In the
Components
tab, click
Add reference
.
Enter a product name in the top bar and click
Search
.
Select it from the list and click
OK
.
In the
Unchanged Components
section, select your assembly, and click the up arrow.
Click the
Inputs
tab and click
Add
.
Click a component in the
tree
and select the inputs in the
Select inputs
dialog box.
Click the
Meta Inputs
tab to create the meta inputs.
Click
Add
to create a meta input. Change its name in the
Name
box.
In the
Remaining Inputs
section, select the desired inputs and click the up arrow to associate them to the meta input.
In the
Parameters
tab, select
Description
from the list located in the
Components Attributes
section. Rename it.
Save your template and close it.
